With those certifiably insane words, House Speaker and the most egomaniacal elitist Democrat, Nancy Pelosi, ordered all Senators to take a five week summer vacation and totally ignore the cries of the people.  Many Americans cannot vacation this summer because of the high price of gasoline.  In propelling this unfortunate act the Democrat leadership is officially stonewalling any measure that will relax the congressional ban on offshore drilling.  Once again Pelosi has proven that she is a Destroyer of the American Dream (DEAD).  However, this is much more than a Pelosi problem.  It is a Democrat party problem in that they want prices of gasoline to continually increase.  That is undeniable.  Democrats have an obstructionist mentality, an ideological commitment to high energy prices, even as the country is calling out for relief at the pumps.  Is there any wonder that Pelosi, Senate Majority leader Harry Reid and the rest of the Democrats are currently enjoying a pitiful 9% favorable approvable rating among the American people?  That means 91% object to most everything they decide and they still won’t listen to common sense.

If you have any friends or family who are complaining about the high price to fill their tank, ask them if they vote for Democrats.  If yes, please tell them they have no right to complain.  They caused the problem by electing these politicians in the first place.  Clearly, a fresh round of domestic oil and gas exploration would greatly ease the long term pressures that supply-and-demand are exerting on U.S. prices.  But under the present ban on drilling 93% of all U.S. energy potential is officially off limits while the price of heating oil and gasoline is dictated by enemies of the United States.  This reality is ridiculous if not insane, especially since with a stroke of a pen we can take control of our own resources and defeat the stranglehold that America’s enemies are holding against us.  It is anticipated that America has abundance, as much as 200 years supply of fuel underground off coast, in Alaska and in Oil shale in the western states like Colorado and Wyoming.  Some of this reserve can be claimed in as little as a year and more than enough to break our dependency on the Mid East within six years.  In fact, to add insult to injury, China with their partners Cuba are currently abstracting Oil 50 miles off the coast of Florida.  Imagine that!  Communist China and Communist Cuba are taking our Oil, but we are prohibited from drilling for our own Oil.  Why are the Democrats being so belligerent?  Because they are married to the Environmental tree-huggers/Sierra Club lobby and would rather cater to them then the very people who elected and trusted them to do the right thing.   

The people are demanding action as broad margins of the American public, even a slim majority of dimwitted liberal thinking Californians favor the increasing of domestic Oil, Gas and Coal production.  A recent Fox News poll shows that Americans now favor “increasing oil in the United States immediately (75%), including offshore (71%) and in a small area of the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge (54%). 

Nancy Pelosi has a response to a disgruntled America.  Are you ready for even more insanity from Mrs. Pelosi?  “Drilling for Oil is a hoax” said the San Francisco Kool-Aid mixing House leader.  She claims that drilling is sure to bring an environmental disaster.  Even though, hundreds of oil platforms already in existence weathered the fiercest Hurricane of the decade, Katrina, without an ounce of spilled oil.

A few weeks ago President Bush lifted the Presidential ban on offshore drilling imposed by the soon to be impeached President Clinton in 1993.  In lifting the ban, gasoline prices began to fall immediately, up to $18.00 per barrel as America’s enemies began to understand that we just might be in a position to begin drilling for our own oil and become less dependent on crazy despots selling us Oil at ever rising prices.  Of course the lifting of the ban still needs Senate approval and Pelosi and the rest of America’s internal enemies are on vacation.

What is Senator Obama’s take on all of this?  As you might imagine, he’s squarely in the shadow of Pelosi and Reid and in full agreement.  Obama is on record as saying that he doesn’t mind the increase in the price of gasoline at the pumps.  In fact he is only bothered that it increased so rapidly.  Of course he is.  Those rapid increases pretty much prohibit him from imposing a new sales tax on gasoline if he were to find himself in the oval office.  He’s not a complete idiot, even though he is trying hard to be just that.  When asked what he would do to alleviate the high gasoline price problem, without hesitation, he stated that he would impose an obscene profits tax on the fuel companies.  That’s just great.   Such a tax would punish the Oil companies and create even higher prices at the pump and would not put one additional barrel of oil in the mix.

Let’s take a look at how a gallon of gasoline is created and the cost of getting it out of the ground and into your car.  First the fuel companies have to locate the Oil by hunting with expensive high tech computerized equipment and often have to abandon wells after many millions of dollars are spent only to find dry holes.  When Oil is found, it has to be extracted from the ground through a series of mechanical pipes drilled into the earth on platforms built and constructed in the middle of the sea under very dangerous conditions.  This is exceedingly expensive and time consuming work.  After months of building and manning this seaworthy plant, they must then send expensive vessels to ship the crude to plants for refinery, another expensive and dangerous segment of the process.  After refining the crude and breaking it down into various grades, the fuel must once again be distributed by truck to a series of warehouse depositories where it can then be regionally trucked to thousands of retail gas stations and sold to consumers at prevailing rates.

Through all of this process, the Oil companies presently are able to squeeze out only a 4% profit on their investment.  This profit amounts to billions of dollars a year and is very much in line if not below par for most distribution businesses.  All of this work and billions of dollars of continuous investment for only a 4% profit.  That’s only about 16 cents per gallon in today’s marketplace.  Now, here’s where the story gets very interesting.   Your Government demands and takes a profit 3.5 times larger than that of the Oil companies and does nothing in the bargain, except to allow the Oil companies to be in business.  That’s right, the Federal Government takes 15% or currently about 60 cents a gallon and offers nothing in return except red tape and bureaucracy.

It’s as though the local strong-armed hoodlums were back.  If you are in business, any business and you were forced to pay a middleman who makes no investment and supplies no service, a profit that is three and a half times greater than yours, you would be out of business rapidly and you would do everything in your power to keep your prices high, if only to guarantee survival.  That’s what the Oil companies have to deal with every day.  Now, think about what Obama wants to do to the Oil companies in furthering taxing them for their “obscene profits” and you’ll begin to understand why he’s out of touch with how business works and why he’s the most offensive Destroyer of the American Dream (DEAD).  Remember, Obama has never had a job in his life.  But he has organized communities, whatever that means.  None the less, he thinks he’s qualified to be the leader of the free world.

Keep one thing in mind as we work ourselves through this mess.  If all Muslim countries stopped sending America their Oil, even at ever increasing prices, wouldn’t we be awfully sorry we didn’t drill for our own?  It could happen, especially with the ever growing hunger and thirst for all things petrol evidenced by the exponentially growing economies of China and India.

Democrats won’t get the message until voters educate them.
